Tensioning Tools
Fencing Boundary Strainers, Wire Tensioners, XT1 In-Line Ratchet Tensioners & Wire Pullers from Strainrite and others.
Strainrite wire tensioners are widely recognized for their quality and effectiveness in fencing applications, particularly for tensioning high-tensile wire, barbed wire, and prefabricated fencing like netting. Below are the key advantages of Strainrite wire tensioners, based on their design, functionality, and practical use in fencing:
Strainrite tensioners, when paired with a tension gauge, allow precise tensioning (e.g., 180–220 lbs for electric fences, 250–300 lbs for non-electric high-tensile fences). This prevents over-tightening, which can damage wires or posts, and ensures optimal fence performance and longevity.
The Chain Grab Wire Strainer and similar tools are designed for both tensioning and joining wires, making them ideal for repairing broken wires or splicing wires mid-fence. This dual functionality reduces the need for additional tools.
The Strainrite XT1 ratchet strainer is recognised as the best on the market.
A word about the boundary strainers: Why snap hook? Why flat hook? The flat hook was the original design to be used with Strainrite wedge clamps. As Chinese clamps started to come into the market it became apparent that the flat hook did not work so well with them - hence, the snap hook. The snap hook is also suitable for the wedge clamp but the flat hook is just a bit better.
