Differences Between Gripple APEX Fibre (FTA), Rod (RTA), and Rope (WTA) Tendons

The Gripple APEX system is a ground anchor solution primarily used in agriculture (e.g., vineyards and orchards) for securing trellising and fencing structures below ground, providing stable fixed points against tension from wind, soil movement, or crop loads. It consists of a helical anchor plate (available in three sizes: APEX 3,4 or 5) paired with one of three tendon types—Fibre (FTA), Rod (RTA), or Wire Rope (WTA)—which connect the anchor to above-ground components like posts or wires. Gripple's recommendation leans strongly towards the use of the Fibre tendon for its superior  corrosion resistance. For that reason we stock only the Fibre version and only the 1.5M length tendon. Select APEX 3, 4 or 5 dependent on your requirements. Typically APEX 3 for viticulture, APEX 4 for fencing and APEX 5 for heavy load bearing structures such as polytunnels or fruit orchards.
